Flickr Assignment
Since I’ve been trying to protect the anonymity of the libraries I am employed at, I have decided to create a generic item for this assignment. I have a photograph of the library in an old schoolhouse and I’ve used Flickr Toys to come up with two different versions of a motivational picture/poster that could be used in relation to any library. They can be viewed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/macphersonlj/2819253761/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/macphersonlj/2820127994/ . While I have tagged them with the class tag, they aren’t showing up in a search. Hmmmm….I know I made them public when I uploaded them….and the settings in my account look right…
I wasn’t much of a Flickr user before this class, but I am really hooked. I like to option of adding different privacy settings to the photos. I was previously using Snapfish to organize my digital photos, but I think I may convert…
One Flickr toy that I would like to play with is the trading card. They look fun and eye-catching. It would be fun to make up a few and print them out with search tips and “did you knows.” Small ones (trading card size) could go into the envelope when we mail library cards to new patrons. Larger printouts (8.5×11) could go in acrylic holders near the computers….
